Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about diesel generators

How do I calculate the required power for my generator? What is the difference between kW and kVA?

Active power (kW) and apparent power (kVA) are related by the power factor: 1 kVA = 0.8 kW. For correct sizing, calculate the sum of all equipment that will run simultaneously and add a 30% margin. Pay attention to starting currents: motor-driven equipment (pumps, compressors, air conditioners) requires 2-3 times their rated power at startup. Our team offers free sizing consultation.

Single-phase or three-phase generator? What about phase balancing?

If you do not have industrial three-phase consumers (large motors, high-power pumps), a single-phase generator is the optimal choice, even if your building connection is three-phase. A 7.5 kW three-phase generator only provides 2.5 kW per phase - if you power a single larger consumer, the system goes into imbalance and shuts down. For industrial applications requiring both modes, generators with dual-winding alternators (Dual Power) are available.

What does AVR mean and why is it important? Will my generator protect my heating system?

AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator) keeps the output voltage constant (variation +/- 5%), protecting equipment from fluctuations. For sensitive electronics like gas heating systems, servers or medical equipment, we recommend generators with pure sine wave output. All our Premium generators are equipped with AVR and quality alternators (Stamford, Leroy Somer, Mecc Alte) producing clean power, safe for any electronic equipment.

What is ATS automation and how does it work?

ATS (Automatic Transfer Switch) is the panel that transforms the generator into a fully autonomous backup system. When it detects a grid failure, the ATS isolates the building circuit from the grid, automatically starts the generator, waits for voltage stabilization, and switches the load to the generator. When the grid returns, the process reverses automatically. Transfer time is 7-13 seconds. For critical equipment (servers, surveillance), a UPS is recommended to bridge this window.

Why diesel and not gasoline or LPG? What are the advantages of diesel engines?

Diesel engines are built for continuous operation at 1500 rpm, with superior lifespan and reduced long-term consumption. Service intervals are 12,000-20,000 hours compared to 2,000-5,000 hours for gasoline. Diesel fuel is safer to store (higher flash point). For industrial applications, hospitality, hotels and long-term backup, diesel is the professional standard. All our generators use diesel engines from top manufacturers: Cummins, Perkins, Volvo Penta, Baudouin, Yuchai or FPT-Iveco.

What is included with delivery and is professional installation required?

Every generator is delivered with 100% load test, complete CE documentation, operation manual and warranty certificate. Yes, according to regulations, ATS panel installation and wiring must be performed by a certified electrician. Unauthorized connection voids the warranty and poses serious safety risks. We offer complete support: sizing consultation, installation supervision and commissioning.

What noise level do diesel generators produce? Can they be used in residential areas?

Our soundproofed generators achieve noise levels of 58-70 dB(A) measured at 7 meters, comparable to a normal conversation. The enclosures are lined with sound-absorbing and fireproof materials, with labyrinth ventilation paths and oversized exhaust systems. For residential and hospitality areas, we recommend soundproofed canopy or containerized versions that comply with local noise regulations.

Do you offer spare parts and long-term service?

Yes, we offer original spare parts for all major components: AVR modules, filters (air, oil, fuel), controllers (DeepSea, ComAp), alternator components (Stamford, Leroy Somer, Mecc Alte) and service consumables. Our engineering team is available for remote diagnostics, scheduled maintenance and emergency interventions. Long-term spare parts availability is guaranteed through direct partnerships with manufacturers.
